# Claim a Device to Your Company

To Claim a Device from one of your Companies, you must have the authority to Claim a Device.

Claiming a Device depends on 2 User criteria:

User Authentication (successful login) is the first: User Authorisation (permissions) is the second.

You may select your username from the Users list to check your user permissions.

Your assigned permissions are shown as green dots.

Rules:

Only un-claimed (aka "Released") Devices are available to be Claimed by a Company.

A Device may only be claimed by one Company.

That Company may release a Device that a Company has claimed.

A Company must claim a Device before it may be managed or monitored by that Company.

Steps:

Assuming you have the required permissions, you may Claim a Device to one of your Companies by following these steps:

  1. Select "Devices" from the Context menu.

  2. On the Actions bar, click on the "Claim Device" action button.

  3. On the form that opens, there are five fields.

    1. Alias

      Enter a human-friendly name here.

This is something that will help you to identify the physical device by Alias' name later.
