Company Structure

Each company hierarchy consists of a single Root Company and zero or more Child Companies. A child company can itself have child companies; such a company is both a Child Company (of its parent) and a Parent Company (to its own children). There is no limit to the number of child companies or to the depth of the hierarchy.

Root Company

A new Root Company (and therefore a new, independent hierarchy) can be created as long as the account has not reached the limit of three root companies (hierarchies).

Child Companies

Each company must have at least one user with the Company Admin role. Company Admins have full permissions within the company and can perform the following actions on direct child companies:

• Detach a child company from the hierarchy.
• View the total number of devices in the child hierarchy (device count only, without further details).

Users can remove their own access to a child company by removing themselves from it.

A child company can be detached from its parent hierarchy by a user with the Detach Child Company permission. Detaching removes the child company (together with its own child hierarchy) from the current hierarchy; a company cannot otherwise be re-parented into a different hierarchy.

When a company is detached, it is switched to credit-based billing. Whether it also becomes suspended depends on the root company's previous billing method: a company detached from a hierarchy that used recurring (invoice) billing becomes suspended, while a company detached from a hierarchy that already used credit-based billing does not. While a company is suspended, device configuration management is disabled, monitoring data collection is paused, and alert evaluation does not occur until the suspension is lifted — see Billing.
